One major research area are activating auto-antibodies targeting vascular receptors such Angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R) and Endothelin-1 type A receptor (ETAR). We found that these auto-antibodies not only serve as reliable biomarkers with high sensitivity and specificity for the prediction of vascular damage in allograft rejection and systemic sclerosis vasculopathy but also aggravate injury due to pathologic receptor activation and sensitization. Other targets for auto-antibodies studied in immune-mediated renal disease and after kidney transplantation are Protease Activated Receptors 1 and 2 and Chemokine receptors CXCR3 and CXCR4.
